Richard Burch Jett papers, 1863-1887.

Thirty-five letters mostly written by or to Jett. His letters to his wife, Nancy, describe his life in the army; her letters to him give details of home life and the effects of the Federal troops' invasion. Letters from Jett's brother-in-law, Pleasant T. Henderson, written from Alabama, describe attitudes towards blacks and tell of crops, lands, and family news. Jett's diary (1863 April-1865 April) is often illegible and consists of sketchy notes regarding travel, marches, and the weather. Genealogy materials include a copy of "Jett Family", compiled by a family member, photograph of the Jett family home, and a report on the Nancy Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery Restoration Project compiled by DeKalb Historical Society.
